Nassuna Harriet

suburbs of Kampala , Kalerwe.

Nassuna Harriet is 6years old. She was found from one of the suburbs of Kampala called Kalerwe.

Harriet was diagnosed with spina bifida and hydrocephalus which was managed from Cure hospital Mbale, after operation the father abandoned the family and the mother had to continue taking care of Harriett which included , post-surgery care and continence management which requires  catheters for removal of urine daily and oxybutynine since she can-longer feel the whole of her  lower body part due to loss of sensation.The mother struggles to raise other four children who are siblings to Harriet and she is a market who earns hand to mouth .

Harriet needs support with continence management materials which is a big challenge to her, she also needs special shoes known as AFOS ( Ankle foot orthosis) for his feet which are not in correct alignment, she also wishes to go to school like other children and wants to become a teacher.

Any support rendered to her will be highly appreciated .

Emmanuel Mayiga

Lwengo Masaka, Ema

Emmanuel Mayiga from Lwengo Masaka, Ema is 5 years old and he is staying with a grandmother after both his parents abandoned him because of his situation.

He is having Cerebral palsy a condition associated with convulsions/ epilepsy causing general body stiffness and delayed milestones.

He is unable to access his daily medication for convulsions because the grandmother cannot afford them and they stay way from the medical center for physiotherapy and other medical services.

He is also lacking assistive devices to improve on his body posture like C.p chair, standing frame and others.

The grandmother is also unable to provide him with basic needs like clothes ,and they get only one meal a day which has made him week due to lack of enough nutrients .

Peter

kisaasi -Kampala

Peter is 5 years old, and from kisaasi -Kampala, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at one year after suffering from severe cerebral malaria and he started convulsing up to date. He is being looked after by his mother after his mother abandoning them . Peter is unable to do anything by his own and is always assisted by his mother. All his limbs are deformed due to convulsions and lack of exercises/ physiotherapy and anticonvulsant s because the mother can not afford the daily expenses for his medical services.

She is also finding challenges with feeding him, since the child feeds on only soft foods like porridge ,milk which are hard to get due to lack of enough money.
